Baseball Recap: Dexter Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Dexter never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Monroe Trojans as they made off with a 15-0 victory. With that win, the Dreadnaughts brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Andrew Cusick looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Dexter let Chance Sobbry and Cole Novara run wild. Sobbry scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Novara scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three hits gave Sobbry a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Robeson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Dexter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Dexter pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Monroe, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Dexter will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
