Softball Recap: Cordova Comes Up Short

After flying high against Oakman on Saturday, Cordova came back down to earth. The Blue Devils lost 18-1 to the Curry Yellowjackets on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost six in a row.

Shelby Black made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Cordova's loss dropped their record down to 18-13. As for Curry, the win (which was their 30th in a row) raised their record to 35-1.

Cordova and Curry should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Blue Devils will square off against Oakman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (119 vs. 243). Meanwhile, Curry (ranked fourth) will meet Vestavia Hills (ranked 70th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
