Football Game Preview: Northport Tigers vs. East Islip Redmen

The Northport Tigers will challenge the East Islip Redmen at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

East Islip will be up against a hot Northport team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Tigers took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over West Babylon. The Tigers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Simon Blissett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 152 yards and three TDs on perfect 5-for-5 passing, while also rushing for 51 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Another player making a difference was Greyson Cabrera, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northport's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Islip, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against Connetquot on Friday by a score of 28-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Redmen's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the T-Birds are ranked 246th).

Northport's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for East Islip, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
