Softball Game Recap: Laurel Highlands Mustangs vs. Brownsville Falcons

Laurel Highlands fell victim to Brownsville and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (2-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. If they were looking for revenge after losing 4-1 to the Falcons when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Payton Senge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Laurel Highlands has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brownsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Laurel Highlands does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brownsville, they will challenge Seton LaSalle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 2.4, the Rebels 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
