Soccer Recap: Union County Comes Up Short

Union County was the 1-0 winner over North Murray when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Union County Panthers fell just short of the North Murray Mountaineers by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 213th).

Union County's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for North Murray, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Coming up, Union County will be playing in front of their home fans against Murray County at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. As for North Murray, they will venture away from home to take on Ridgeland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Murray will be up against Ridgeland's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.88 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
