Basketball Recap: Braxton County Comes Up Short

Braxton County played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 71-42 loss at the hands of the Scott Skyhawks. The Eagles were down 55-32 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Braxton County's loss came despite strong showings from Brady Toler and Steve Boggs. Toler posted eight points, while Boggs had four points and three steals. Kenneth Moss also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Scott found their leader in sophomore Colin Williamson, who shot 48% from the field en route to 26 points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williamson has scored all season. Wyatt Edwards was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Braxton County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season. The win (which was Scott's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Coming up, Braxton County will take on Philip Barbour at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th. Braxton County will be up against Philip Barbour's rather soft defense (which has allowed 59 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Scott, they have already played their next game, a 56-41 victory against Roane County on the 1st.
