Basketball Preview: Diboll Lumberjacks vs. Huntington Red Devils
Diboll is 9-1 against the Red Devils since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Diboll Lumberjacks will be playing at home against the Huntington Red Devils at 8:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Woodville scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Diboll still came out on top. Diboll managed a 66-60 victory over the Eagles.
Diboll's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachai Mitchell, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Latavian Forney was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Huntington got the win against the Hornets last Friday by a conclusive 54-32. The victory was just what Huntington needed coming off of a 51-26 loss in their prior matchup.
Diboll is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Huntington, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-19.
Diboll strolled past the Red Devils in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 54-38. Will Diboll repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
