Recap: Meade Buffaloes vs. Holcomb Longhorns
The Meade Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Holcomb, falling 64-36. Meade lost against Holcomb in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-34 score last time.
Meade's loss came despite strong showings from Sayler Stapleton and Carlie Martin. Stapleton scored 16 points along with 5 steals, while Martin scored 11 points. Stapleton scored a full 44.4% of Meade's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dallas Sherman was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 11 rebounds.
Meade's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Holcomb, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Meade will be playing at home against Southwestern Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Southwestern Heights focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. Holcomb won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberal at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Liberal is ranked 66th, while Holcomb is ranked 75th).
