A feisty cat fight will be fought as Willow Canyon Wildcats take on Canyon View Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Willow Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Willow Canyon was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Fairfax on Thursday. Willow Canyon put the hurt on Fairfax with a sharp 9-2 win. Considering the Wildcats have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Matt Huff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Ethan Patrick was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Hansen, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Canyon View entered their tilt with Horizon on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Huskies get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Landon Hood's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ricardo Yuriar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
Willow Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Canyon View's record is now 4-1.
Willow Canyon suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Canyon View in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Willow Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
