Basketball Recap: Houston Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Elizabeth Liddon and Mary Helen Mendheim

Houston Academy lost against Northside Methodist Academy last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Houston Academy Raiders lost to the Northside Methodist Academy Knights on the road by a 44-25 margin. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Mary Helen Mendheim and Elizabeth Liddon certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mendheim posted 13 points and seven boards, while Liddon put up six points and three steals. Mendheim has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Houston Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Northside Methodist Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Houston Academy and Northside Methodist Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Houston Academy will try to hand Rehobeth their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Northside Methodist Academy will look to extend Slocomb's eight-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
