Baseball Recap: Escambia Drops Season-High Score on Theodore

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Escambia). Everything went their way against the Theodore Bobcats on Wednesday as the Escambia Gators made off with a 17-10 win. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

Caleb Bates made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Bates was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other pitching news, Parker Zareck looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Clayton Sanders and Christian Stone did most of the damage at the plate: Sanders scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5, while Stone scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Stone has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Camargo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Escambia pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Theodore, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Escambia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Navarre on the 6th. As for Theodore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 20-2 win against LeFlore on the 10th.
