Preview: Miller County Pirates vs. Terrell County Greenwave
Miller County has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Terrell County Greenwave at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 445th, while Terrell County is ranked 210th).
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Miller County beat Quitman County 53-48. The win was just what Miller County needed coming off of a 73-32 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Terrell County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Randolph-Clay 68-64. Terrell County has struggled against Randolph-Clay recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shaheed Huckaby, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Carter, who scored 16 points.
Miller County's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Terrell County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Miller County lost to Terrell County on the road by a decisive 64-47 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Huckaby, who scored 21 points. Now that Miller County knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
