Preview: Northgate Vikings vs. Harris County Tigers
The Northgate Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Harris County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Northgate is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Harris County in Georgia (Northgate is ranked 153rd, while Harris County is ranked 469th).
Last Saturday, Northgate was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-45 to Newnan. Northgate has struggled against Newnan recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Harris County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 79-51 loss at the hands of Spencer. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Harris County has suffered since December 6, 2023.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Zy?kevious Gates, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Shay Broome, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Northgate's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Harris County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.
Northgate was able to grind out a solid victory over Harris County in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 64-54. Does Northgate have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harris County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
