Football Game Preview: Boulder City Eagles vs. Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons

The Boulder City Eagles will square off against the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Boulder City has four straight victories, Doral Academy Red Rock has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Boulder City didn't have too much trouble with Sports Leadership & Management as they won 28-14.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boulder City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noelle Payne, who rushed for 165 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Payne is now averaging an impressive 115.5 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Bothwell, who picked up 52 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Payne was just one part of a punishing run game: Boulder City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 352 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in January.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Boulder City's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Sancha Jenas-Keogh.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Doral Academy Red Rock's offense. They were dealt a 40-0 defeat at the hands of Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon on Tuesday.

Boulder City's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything came up roses for Boulder City against Doral Academy Red Rock in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 53-12 victory. Does Boulder City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Doral Academy Red Rock turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
