Baseball Recap: Greely Falls Short Against Ranked Cape Elizabeth

Greely faced Cape Elizabeth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Rangers fell just short of the Capers by a score of 5-4. The Rangers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Capers earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Gehrig Donnelly was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kyle Soule made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Greely's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Cape Elizabeth, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
