Basketball Game Preview: Otay Ranch Mustangs vs. Eastlake Titans

Otay Ranch and Eastlake are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Otay Ranch Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Eastlake Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Eastlake will be up against a hot Otay Ranch squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Otay Ranch claimed a resounding 64-21 victory over Fallbrook. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastlake). They blew past Hilltop 66-12 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Otay Ranch's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Eastlake, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-16.

Otay Ranch came up short against Eastlake when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 46-36. Can Otay Ranch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
