Softball Game Preview: Colfax Bulldogs vs. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna Broncos

The Colfax Bulldogs will take on the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna Broncos at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Colfax has four straight victories, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

In Thursday's Canine Competition, Colfax came out on top. They took their matchup against Pullman on Thursday 14-11.

Marchele McNeilly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and nine unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Brenna Gilchrist was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Izzy Huntley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna came up short against Colfax on Tuesday, falling 11-1. The contest marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Colfax pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 15.8 runs this season. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
