Volleyball Game Preview: Newtown Nighthawks vs. Cheshire Rams

Newtown hasn't had much luck against Cheshire recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Nighthawks will host the Rams at 12:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Newtown earned a 3-1 victory over Greenwich. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Nighthawks.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 25-16, 25-19.

Eli Sullivan was the offensive standout of the match as he had 22 digs. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 12 or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Cheshire got the win against Southington on Wednesday by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Blue Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Cheshire never let Southington on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-21, 25-21.

Cheshire's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Newtown has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record.
