Basketball Game Preview: Holmes County Central Jaguars vs. Yazoo City Indians

Holmes County Central is 6-0 against Yazoo City since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Holmes County Central Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Yazoo City Indians at 6:00 p.m.

Holmes County Central is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since November 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Yazoo City out 47-44. The win was all the more spectacular given the Jaguars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Indians are ranked 34th).

Holmes County Central can attribute much of their success to Ratasia Greer, who posted 21 points, and D?Nllya Keys, who had six points and 20 boards. That's the most points Keys has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sha Sha Giles, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Yazoo City and nudges their season record down to 16-7. As for Holmes County Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12.
