Palmer Ridge extended their winning streak to nine on Monday, bumping them up to 18-3. Everything went their way against the Air Academy Kadets as they made off with a 13-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Pam Boyarko made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September.
In other batting news, Kayleigh Garcia and Macy Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4, while Smith fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Corinna Arellano, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Palmer Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Air Academy only managed four.
As for Air Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-5-1. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-4 Cheyenne Mountain (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 81.1% over those games).
On Air Academy's side, Keira Finkle was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Palmer Ridge didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-2 win against Cheyenne Mountain on the 8th. As for Air Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Lutheran on the 8th.
