Baseball Game Preview: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. North Surry Greyhounds

Mount Airy is 1-9 against North Surry since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Granite Bears will welcome the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Mount Airy's victory against Elkin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Granite Bears narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Buckin' Elks 6-4. That's two games straight that the Granite Bears have won by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, North Surry made easy work of North Wilkes on Tuesday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Greyhounds haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

North Surry pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Mount Airy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.

Mount Airy beat North Surry 5-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Do the Granite Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greyhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
