Coconino is 8-2 against Mohave since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Coconino will challenge Mohave at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Coconino can't be too worried about heading out to take on Mohave: they just beat Cactus Shadows at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. Coconino's pitcher stepped up to hand Cactus Shadows an 11-0 shutout on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Kaitlyn Tso made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sophie Monsman and Danica Kern did most of the damage at the plate: Monsman went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Kern scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, Kern posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Destiny Villas, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Coconino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cactus Shadows only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Mohave challenged Flagstaff on Saturday. Mohave was the clear victor by a 16-6 margin over Flagstaff.
Audrina Martinez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit.
At the plate, Mohave let Alyssa Donegan and Gabby Fernandez run wild. Donegan went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Fernandez fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Jahnezz Jones was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Coconino pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Mohave, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Coconino has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Mohave struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Coconino took their win against Mohave in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coconino since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
