St. Clair County entered their tilt with Southside on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Fighting Saints have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carleigh Butts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Vylet Byers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Carmen Garner, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

St. Clair County's win bumped their record up to 17-14-1. As for Southside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-17.

Looking ahead, St. Clair County will take on Etowah at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Fighting Saints' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southside, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cullman at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
