Football Recap: Wynot Blue Devils vs. St. Mary's Cardinals
It's playoff time, and Wynot had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 71-60 win over the St. Mary's Cardinals on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

A big part of Wynot's victory came down to the chemistry between Devin Brummer and his top target Kotner Koch. Brummer threw for 400 yards and seven TDs while completing 89.3% of his passes while Koch gained 274 total yards and six touchdowns. Thanks to that big game, Brummer is now up to 38 passing touchdowns on the season. Lane Heimes also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Wynot proved: they limited St. Mary's to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. While one picked up at least seven total tackles, Koch stood above the rest. He picked up 265 receiving yards and four scores, and also punched in a pair of TDs on the ground. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Wynot; they were averaging 5.9yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 4.8 per game.
Wynot's defensive line didn't let Gage Hedstrom, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Jed Nelson with two.
When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Hedstrom. Despite the final result, he threw for 347 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 59 yards and three scores. Hedstrom has been hot recently, having posted three or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Ben Barlow was another key player, picking up 163 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Wynot's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for St. Mary's, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 12-1.
