Baseball Recap: Pinellas Park's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Pinellas Park waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Boca Ciega Pirates by a score of 5-2. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates, too.

Jack Inman looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Steven Fox was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Pinellas Park hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Pinellas Park pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Boca Ciega, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Pinellas Park and Boca Ciega could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Pinellas Park (ranked 370th) will meet Calvary Christian (ranked eighth) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Boca Ciega will take on Clearwater at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 328 places (536 vs. 208).
