Volleyball Recap: St. Francis Takes a Loss

St. Francis was the 2-0 winner over Waunakee when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Saturday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Lorraine Surina paced St. Francis' offense, picking up six kills. Surina got some help from Holly Muisenga and her 11 assists. Finally, Grace Grover kept St. Francis' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Waunakee can attribute much of their success to Kendall Scadden, who had 12 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Scadden has posted over her last six matches.

St. Francis' loss dropped their record down to 21-12. As for Waunakee, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 37-8 record this season.

St. Francis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Riverside-Brookfield on the 20th. As for Waunakee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against La Crosse Central on the 25th.
