Softball Recap: Jefferson Starts Season with Victory Against Blake

Jefferson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over the Blake Yellow Jackets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dragons also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Madisen Fleming was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Fleming was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Amaris Dominguez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Sophia Alvarado was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Jefferson has already played their next matchup, an 8-7 loss against Chamberlain on the 20th. As for Blake, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 victory against Brandon on the 20th.
