James F. Byrnes and Riverside are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The James F. Byrnes Rebels will square off against the Riverside Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

James F. Byrnes is headed into Friday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Boiling Springs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rebels came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Bulldogs are ranked 34th).

Meanwhile, Riverside had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 75-48 win over the Indians.

Riverside's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for James F. Byrnes, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-2.

James F. Byrnes didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Riverside in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with an 85-81 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for James F. Byrnes since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
