Recap: Hedgesville Eagles vs. Greenbrier East Spartans
The Hedgesville Eagles lost against the Greenbrier East Spartans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Hedgesville was outmatched by Greenbrier East on the road and fell 72-36. Hedgesville has struggled against Greenbrier East recently, as their match on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Hedgesville saw an underclassman step up: Gracie Brown scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maggie Boyer, who scored nine points.
Hedgesville has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Greenbrier East, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hedgesville will take on Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenbrier East will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on James Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
