Baseball Preview: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Frankton Eagles
The Wes-Del Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Frankton Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Wes-Del managed to slip by Daleville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors lost 8-2 to the Broncos on Thursday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wes-Del saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Sherfy, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Sherfy has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Frankton got the win against Eastern Hancock on Saturday by a conclusive 10-4. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Frankton also got a great performance from Brayden Hutton as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caine Oakley, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jarrett Morris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Frankton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Wes-Del, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
