Basketball Recap: North Hills Christian Takes a Loss

North Hills Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 93-37 loss at the hands of the Carmel Christian Cougars. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-6.

When it comes to explaining why North Hills Christian lost, don't look at Maverick Ball. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 22 on his way to 28 points and eight boards. That was a full 75.7% of North Hills Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Lawing, who put up two points.

Carmel Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Guandolo led the charge by going 6 of 10 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Guandolo a new career-high in boards. TJ Holmes also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

North Hills Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Carmel Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

North Hills Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-47 win against Covenant Classical on the 24th. As for Carmel Christian, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Carmel Christian Cougars challenge the Ambassador Christian School Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ambassador Christian School's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups.
