Basketball Recap: Cobden Comes Up Short

Cobden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 51-35 fall against the Cairo Pilots. If the Appleknockers were looking for revenge after losing 70-47 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Cobden still got an impressive performance from Natalie Franklin, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 17 boards. The match was Franklin's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Shawna Burgess was another key player, putting up four points and eight rebounds.

Cobden's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Cairo, their victory bumped their record up to 4-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cobden will face off against Meridian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cairo, they will take on Paducah Tilghman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
