Softball Recap: Ocean Springs Comes Up Short

Ocean Springs came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Satsuma Gators by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The Greyhounds haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Kerrigan Scott and Taylor Farra did some serious damage despite the final result: Scott scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Farra went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie McDonald, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Ocean Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Ocean Springs now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Satsuma, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8-1 record this season.

Ocean Springs will take on Spanish Fort in a tournament on Saturday. As for Satsuma, they will be taking part in a tournament against Baldwin County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Baldwin County's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Satsuma's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
