Baseball Recap: Columbus Christian Crusaders vs. Cannelton Bulldogs
Columbus Christian took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). Everything went their way against the Cannelton Bulldogs as the Columbus Christian Crusaders made off with a 21-7 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Columbus Christian also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.
Cam Pritchard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Pritchard was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Payeton Walden was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Josh Conrad, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Cannelton are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Columbus Christian will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Rock Creek Academy at 5:00 p.m. As for Cannelton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Crothersville at 12:00 p.m. on April 13th.
