Football Recap: Ray Texans vs. Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees
Ray extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees. The Texans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors & Cherokees from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Several Texans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tripp Thompson, who threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Brian McCullum helped Thompson out on the ground, rushing for 103 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards and one touchdown.
As for Tuloso-Midway, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 55.0 points this season.
Damian Figueroa was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 280 yards and seven scores while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Arriaga, who rushed for 96 yards and one TD on only 13 carries.
Ray has already played their next match, a 58-0 win against King on the 12th. As for Tuloso-Midway, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-42 victory against London on the 12th.
