Basketball Game Preview: Fort Wayne North Side Legends vs. NorthWood Panthers

The Fort Wayne North Side Legends and the NorthWood Panthers will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Fort Wayne North Side's tournament run continued when they took on Fort Wayne Bishop Luers on Thursday. Fort Wayne North Side opened the new year with a less-than-successful 64-56 loss to Fort Wayne Bishop Luers.

Despite the defeat, Fort Wayne North Side had strong showings from Tyvon Alexander, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 18 points and six steals, and Sebastian Moore, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 19 points. Moore's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Woods, who posted six points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, NorthWood put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Indianapolis Washington with points to spare, taking the game 64-48. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Continentals are ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

NorthWood pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Fort Wayne North Side, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Fort Wayne North Side came up short against NorthWood when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 58-49. Can Fort Wayne North Side avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
