Basketball Recap: Sayre Takes a Loss

Sayre has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-62 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bryan Station Defenders. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Defenders are ranked fifth).

Sayre's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Bryan Station, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sayre will face off against Scott County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bryan Station, they will challenge Frederick Douglass at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Frederick Douglass' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
