Baseball Recap: Overfelt Takes a Loss

Overfelt extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 13-2 to the Monta Vista Matadors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Overfelt Royals of the 7-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

As for Monta Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

For Monta Vista's part, Timothy Yin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Yin posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shiva Kumaraguru, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Avyan Mahajan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Overfelt will head out to take on Evergreen Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monta Vista, they will take on Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Matadors 3.3, the Mustangs 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
