Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Stars vs. Beechcroft Cougars

The Centennial Stars will challenge the Beechcroft Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Beechcroft likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Centennial was able to grind out a solid win over Columbus International, taking the game 59-47.

Centennial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Houston, who posted 27 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The contest was Houston's 19th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aza Corbett, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 22 boards.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 30 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Beechcroft was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Mifflin 53-13. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Centennial's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for Beechcroft, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.

Everything came up roses for Centennial against Beechcroft in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-31 win. In that game, Centennial amassed a halftime lead of 42-18, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
