Baseball Recap: Peoria Sets Scoring Season-High Against Urbana

Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Urbana Tigers, falling 18-5. On the bright side, the five- run performance marked the Lions' highest-scoring match to date.

Stlyz Drummond was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Jamar Seidel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Urbana, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peoria will venture away from home to face off against Stark County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Urbana, they will challenge Peoria Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
