Softball Recap: Heritage Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Heritage entered their tilt with Rock Ridge on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Phoenix 9-1. That's more bragging rights for the Pride, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gabbie Haynie made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Audrey Ellison was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Noelle Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Heritage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Heritage pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rock Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Heritage will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Phoenix: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
