Volleyball Recap: Webster Schroeder Falls Despite Big Games from Gigi Lannotti and Maddie Siphakongviseth

After flying high against Webster Thomas last Friday, Webster Schroeder came back down to earth. The Warriors fell 3-1 to the Fairport Red Raiders on Thursday. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.

Webster Schroeder started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-15.

Maddie Siphakongviseth and Gigi Lannotti certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Siphakongviseth had 26 digs and six assists, while Lannotti had 17 digs and 14 assists. Siphakongviseth has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Webster Schroeder fell to 9-1-1. As for Fairport, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Webster Schroeder will take on Canandaigua Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairport, after both having extra time off, they and Irondequoit will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on October 3.
