Baseball Recap: D'Evelyn Takes a Loss

D'Evelyn easily dispatched Wheat Ridge last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Jaguars fell just short of the Conifer Lobos by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Jaguars have suffered since March 11th.

Ryan Kim was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Kim wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leo Vigil, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Marshall Pharris was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

D'Evelyn's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Conifer, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-8.

Looking ahead, D'Evelyn will be playing at home against Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Conifer, they will head out to face off against Evergreen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
