Baseball Recap: JAG Comes Up Short

After flying high against Talladega last Saturday, JAG came back down to earth. The Jaguars fell just short of the Central of Coosa County Cougars by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Jaguars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 11-7.

Laking Anderson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. Anderson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for JAG: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Maree Hall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. JAG is 4-1 when Hall posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-7 otherwise.

JAG's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Central of Coosa County, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 4-17 record.

Looking ahead, JAG will host Carver Montgomery at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Central of Coosa County, they will venture away from home to challenge Faith Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
