Softball Recap: Mesa Grande Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Desert Chapel last Tuesday, Mesa Grande Academy came back down to earth. The Cardinals came up short against the Bethel Christian Kings on Friday, falling 26-13. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 23-6 to the Kings when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mesa Grande Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Bender, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Chealse Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Mesa Grande Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-2. As for Bethel Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa Grande Academy will face off against Loma Linda Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bethel Christian, they will challenge Fontana at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
