Basketball Recap: Sabino Skates Past Amphitheater with Ease

Sabino won the last time they faced Amphitheater and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Sabino Sabercats blew past the Amphitheater Panthers, posting an 81-44 win. The Sabercats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season.

Sabino had a senior duo take command as Caden Watkins went 9 of 10 on his way to 24 points in addition to five assists and five boards and Brendan Gargus went 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points and six assists. Watkins is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chris Herndon, who posted eight points and three steals.

Sabino has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Amphitheater, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Sabino will welcome Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amphitheater, they will venture away from home to square off against Buena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Buena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
