Basketball Recap: Union Mine Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Union Mine, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They secured an 85-79 W over the Argonaut Mustangs on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 96-73 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union Mine to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Patterson, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matt Manfredi, who posted 21 points and six boards.

Union Mine was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Argonaut still got an impressive performance from Mitchell Mcmahan, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 12 rebounds. Mcmahan's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Caspary, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points and five assists.

Union Mine's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-13. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.2 points per game. As for Argonaut, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-5.

Union Mine has already played their next matchup, a 69-47 win against Bradshaw Christian on the 31st. As for Argonaut, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 86-80 victory against Liberty Ranch on the 31st.
