Football Recap: Shannon Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road + How To Watch

Shannon dropped to 6-3 on Friday, ending the team's seven-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They took a 23-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Itawamba Agricultural Indians. The Red Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Shannon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dashaun Clifton, who threw for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 46 yards. Braylen Deans was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one score on only six carries.

Shannon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Solomon Walker and Chayce Richardson. Donavon McGuaghy was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

As for Itawamba Agricultural, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.8 points over those games.

Xavier Waters had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 302 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Those 302 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Shannon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 52-6 victory against Mooreville on the 30th. As for Itawamba Agricultural, they will head out to challenge Amory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.89 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
