Softball Recap: NV - Demarest Starts off Right with Win over Northern Highlands

NV - Demarest took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Northern Highlands Highlanders 2-1. The Norsemen have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Highlanders, too.

Deana Finkelstein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jamie Collins, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.

Looking ahead, NV - Demarest will take on Ramapo at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northern Highlands, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against NV - Old Tappan at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
