Baseball Recap: Center Takes a Loss

Center extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They fell 6-1 to the Hudson Hornets. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 17, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Center saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Wulf, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Jayden Lane also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Hudson, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Hudson's side, Alberto Ibarra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. Ibarra has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cutter Warren was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Center and Hudson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Roughriders will take on Rusk at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th with a big rank disadvantage (770 vs. 333). Meanwhile, Hudson (ranked 357th) will meet Bullard (ranked 87th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
